The History Council of Victoria (HCV) is a public advisory body. It comprises representatives from cultural institutions and heritage bodies; history teachers and curriculum advisors; academic and professional historians; and local indigenous and community history organisations. To encourage the understanding, appreciation and enjoyment of history, the History Council of Victoria: - promotes and supports the study of history in schools;
- undertakes to raise the profile of history in government, business, education, and throughout the community;
- seeks to increase resources and recognition for history in education, indigenous affairs, heritage, the media and the arts;
- advocates history as a key context for current decision making, attitudes and action.
