The 1993 book The Primal Wound by Nancy Verrier has been reprinted numerous times, and offers an alternative narrative about the impact of adoption on adoptees. It explores the primal connection between a child and their birth mother, and the relinquishment trauma that occurs through adoption.
Now a feature documentary, Reckoning with the Primal Wound is about reckoning with relinquishment trauma. It is the only film about this important topic produced by an adoptee and birth mother, and features Nancy Verrier herself along with psychologists David Brodzinsky and Amanda Baden.
We’re giving 150 households the opportunity to register to receive a private link to this feature documentary, for viewing at home.
This opportunity commemorates the ninth anniversary of the National Apology for Forced Adoptions, and is a must-see film for anyone interested in or affected by adoption.
