Anarchy in the Archive: The Protest Collection at Museums Victoria

Museum curators have been out and about documenting a number of significant political, Indigenous, environmental and feminist protest movements in recent years including Marriage Equality, Women’s March on Melbourne and School Climate Strike.

The material collected sits alongside material from seminal movements such as the fight for the 8 hour day, women’s right to vote and the 1967 referendum. What does this new material tell us about current protest culture?

Curators will share what they have been adding to your State Heritage Collection and then Kristy Dickinson, from Haus of Dizzy, will lead a Q and A with the voices these collection are raising.

Speakers:

Kristy Dickinson, Haus of Dizzy Founder

Kimberley Moulton, Senior Curator at Museums Victoria

Bec Carland, Senior Curator at Museums Victoria

Michael Reason, Curator at Museums Victoria

Representatives from the School Strike for Climate and Marriage Equality movements
