
Patrick Gigacz is a PhD candidate in History at the University of Melbourne, supported by a Hansen Scholarship in History. He joined the History Council of Victoria in 2025 as an independent member.
Patrick's thesis examines a history of the urban cultures which accompanied the arrival of electricity supply in Melbourne, and he has wide research interests in Australian, urban, engineering and public histories. As a researcher and freelance educator, he is engaged by the possibilities of digital humanities and innovative teaching to enrich public history and make it accessible to new audiences.
