In May 2020, the HCV Board appointed Alicia Cerreto as the Deputy Executive Officer, following the news of Margaret Birtley’s retirement. Alicia and Margaret will work together for a time, and later in the year when the extended handover is complete, Alicia will step into the role of Executive Officer.
Alicia will be known to many of you as the current President of the Professional Historians Association (Victoria and Tasmania). In this role she has advocated for the work of historians and for the value of history, overseen a significant increase in membership, and supported the provision of events, professional development and communication with the wider community.
In her professional life Alicia is a consulting historian and is passionate about sharing stories of the past with new audiences. Her work has focused on community organisations such as Berry Street, The Bridge and Travellers Aid Australia. Over her career, Alicia has also worked alongside teachers in both primary and secondary schools. She has worked in philanthropy at both Monash and Deakin Universities. Alicia has community and professional engagement expertise and a well-regarded ability to manage projects and meet project deadlines in a community context.
Alicia’s initial focus will be on the History Roadshow and a new Communications Strategy for HCV, reflecting her expertise in this area. You can read more about her HERE, and her email address is [email protected]
Please join me in welcoming Alicia to the HCV.
